Q: Are Black Russian Terriers good with kids?

A: Black Russian Terriers are good with the family children. They are loyal and loving, of course, all dogs and children must be taught to treat each other gently, lovingly, with care and with respect.



Q: Are Black Russian Terriers good with other dogs?

A: Unless very well socialized at a young age, with many types of dogs, Black Russian Terriers prefer those pets that are members of their own household to any others.



Q: At what age should you alter your Black Russian Terrier?

A: Always check with your vet when deciding what age to alter your Black Russian Terrier, however, the norm tends to be 6 months of age. A male who is altered will tend to stay closer to home and any aggressive tendency toward other males will be minimized. Females should be spayed to eliminate unwanted pregnancies and spaying also prevents breast cancer which could develop later in life.



Q: How difficult is it to groom a Black Russian Terrier?

A: Show grooming is a lengthy difficult process, however if you have your Black Russian Terrier clipped twice a year the coat is relatively easy to maintain.

Q: Are there any genetic problems associated with Black Russian Terriers?

A: Black Russian Terriers are a compilation of many breeds including Newfoundland, Rottweiler, Giant Schnauzer, Airedale Terrier and Russian Mastiff. It is possible for the Black Russian Terrier to develop any health related problems these foundation breeds exhibit.
